**Rev. Eddie Makue* *South African Civil Rights Leader*
*Throughout the 1980s, Rev. Makue worked with social and political
organizations to fight racist policies and make life more bearable for
black South Africans. In the 1990s, as state-sanctioned apartheid was
dismantled, Eddie worked to prepare his fellow South Africans for truly
democratic elections. In 2005, Rev. Makue put this electoral experience
to work as a member of an election monitoring delegation in the Occupied
Palestinian Territories. In 2006, Rev. Makue was appointed to his
current position as General Secretary of the South African Council of
Churches.

**Attorney Diana Buttu* *International Law Advocate**
Diana Buttu grew up in Canada and moved to Palestine in 2000 to work for
the Negotiations Support Unit of the PLO. Ms. Buttu was also involved in
the litigation at the International Court of Justice in the Hague that
resulted in the Court's landmark opinion against Israel’s wall. While
Diana Buttu is no longer employed by the PLO, she continues to work for
justice for Palestinians. Ms. Buttu’s media work continues through
collaboration with the Institute for Middle East Understanding. She also
works with PalTel on sustainable agricultural development issues and
teachers at Birzeit University in Ramallah.

This national speaking tour will be in 11 US cities between November
10th and 23rd, 2008. Faith communities, the African American community,
and students will be the heart of this tour, as we work to educate
Americans about the similarities between life under South Africa’s
apartheid regime and life for Israelis and Palestinians living under the
Israeli government’s ethnic separation policies./
