How hard it is, still, to realize the world (and the Germans) let these people come to power (Hitler came to power with significant backing from Wall Street, and the support of part of the British Royal Family). These photos show events before the tens of millions had died, and the cities of Europe reduce to ruin. Looking at the vast events in Nuremburg, I remember being taken on a tour of those concrete bleachers by a young German pacifist when I was in that city. All was empty and silent, only those bleachers remained. Shown here are the originals (Used at that time in the production of magazines). The majority are 6" X 9". They were found by a nurse in a Berlin hospital , who kept them put away during all these years.. After her death her daughter returned them to the current editors, who retain the copyrights to Life magazine, which has not been published since the early '70s.
