Statewide (Im)migrant Rights Conference: Stopping Police and ICE Repression March 26, 2011 1921 Maple Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90011 (Plenty of Free Parking will be available) The Southern California Immigration Coalition and the South Central Neighborhood Council are hosting this extremely important conference. This conference is for all forces that are working to defend the rights of (Im)migrants. Under the current Democratic Administration, our communities have been victim to MORE ICE raids, police checkpoints and deportations than EVER before. At the same time, the Tea Party, the Minutemen and other reactionary groups are trying to repeal the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution and are escalating their attacks on our communities. YA BASTA! It's time for us to organize ourselves and to defend ourselves and to do it independently of any of the mainstream political parties! Conference objectives: 1. To build a California Statewide Immigration Coalition 2. To coordinate May Day actions all over California so that we are consolidating our political messages and demands 3. To recruit more organizations/people to work on campaigns on issues such as ICE Raids, Drivers licenses, Police/Car Impounds, Secure Communities Opt-Out...etc. To RSVP: Please email us at i...@immigrationcoalition.org. For more information, please call us at 323-602-3480. We will be sending out a list of endorsers shortly. So far we have people coming from San Diego, Orange County, San Francisco and Oakland. Conference Program will be sent out shortly. Check our website for updates and for further logistical information. For those of you who will not be able to make it to the Congreso Latino in Tejas, we invite you to come to our conference! The SCIC also supports the Congreso Latino and will be sending our representative to that very important conference. We are excited that we will be part of national and local organizing efforts on the same weekend! www.immigrationcoalition.org Ron Gochez Social Justice Educator/Community Organizer Union del Barrio Southern California Immigration Coalition [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAAMN: Los Angeles Alternative Media Network --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: <mailto:laamn-unsubscr...@egroups.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe: <mailto:laamn-subscr...@egroups.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Digest: <mailto:laamn-dig...@egroups.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Help: <mailto:laamn-ow...@egroups.com?subject=laamn> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post: <mailto:la...@egroups.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive1: <http://www.egroups.com/messages/laamn> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive2: <http://www.mail-archive.com/laamn@egroups.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yahoo!
