The top US military officer warned Sunday that intervention in Syria would be "very difficult" and said it would be "premature" to arm the besieged country's opposition movement. ...
*my personal comment- the US and the West can not control the many different opposition groupings to the Assad regime in Syria and have stood by for 11 months while some in the anti-anti imperialist camp and anti-socialist socialists spread conspiracy rumors ad nausem about the causes of the rebellion and in the long run have supported the Syrian regimes murder and repression and complain of intervention only by the West ( which I am against also) but never by the imperialism and intervention of the Russian, Chinese and the Iranian capitalists. They long ago gave up and forgot about ideas and ideals about proletarian internationalism or socialism.* Cort Syria Audio Feature: Iranian Rappers Sing for the People of Homs Monday, February 20, 2012 at 8:18 Ali Yenidunya in EA Iran, EA Middle East and Turkey, Emad Ghavidel, Hamed Fard, Homs, Middle East and Iran, Syria Iranian artists Emad Ghavidel and Hamed Fard produce a music video for the people of Homs in Syria, where hundreds have died in a regime assault in the last 17 days, "I swear to laments of grieving mothers; I swear to tears of grieving mothers. Jumblatt calls Syrias planned referendum heresy Lebanon's Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt slammed the Syrian regimes decision to hold a referendum for a new constitution that would end almost 50 years of single party rule, and called it a heresy. History and political science books will tell about the heresy of a referendum for the so-called new draft constitution [mixed] with the smell of corpses and the dust of the rubble in Homs and other villages in Syria, Jumblatt wrote in his weekly article in the PSP newspaper *Al-Anbaa*. He also said that hundreds of [ignoble] parties similar to the Baath Party will be formed in a bid to keep complete control of the state and its institutions. He also said that countries supporting the Syrian government are clinging to the regime at the expense of Syrias unity. [Russia] can provide a solution to the [Syrian] crisis [by hosting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in exile] in the far reaches of Siberia - in respect for the feeling of the Russian citizens - or in the middle of Baluchistan. I think Al-Qaeda leaders would repent when they hear the Syrian regimes experience in terrorism, he added. The PSP leader also said that the Western countries are hiding behind the Russian veto, and are shyly demanding the implementation of reforms under the pretext of the Syrian oppositions divisions so that they can avoid supporting or acknowledging it. Jumblatt also reiterated his call for the Syrian Druze to join the uprising and refuse to confront the Syrian people. The future is for the free people in Syria, and your natural position is to stand by them, he added. No matter what the plots are, the Syrian people will eventually triumph. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Haytham Al-Manna` on New TV<http://angryarab.blogspot.com/2012/02/haytham-al-manna-on-new-tv.html> I still like Haytham Al-Manna` and I respect his sincerity. I don't agree with everything he says. But he was clear about the destructive sectarian role of the Gulf regime and their instigation of sectarian conflict in Syria. He also blamed the regime for the absence of a cease-fire in Homs: and said that his group (the coordinating committees) negotiated a cease-fire in Homs (and that the various elements of the fighters including the Salafite faction--for those who still deny that Salafites are actively involved among the armed groups in Syria) but that the regime refused to respond. He also attacked the promises of the Syrian National Council and their excited calls for foreign intervention.
