Yolanda's home of 7 years is one of a few apartments reserved for very-low income residents, but the landlord now wants to move the apartment out of the very-low income program, and more than double the rent. According to the city of LA, this is all perfectly legal. It's also dead wrong! It can take years to find housing that's affordable to very-low income people in LA, but the landlords won't give Yolanda more than a few weeks to find a new home â even though there is no reason to kick her out! Now weâre fighting back! This issue could be easily solved, but the landlord won't even meet for 30 minutes to discuss the case, despite multiple requests for a meeting from Councilman Bill Rosendahl's office!
