About: We are committed to stopping an encroachment of these fragile lands and the public trust by the Annenberg Foundation who has sought and received a formal MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that several state agencies signed without any public oversight. Description: We are a community of people who are committed to protecting the public trust of land that was acquired from bond money for the purpose of wildlife protection. The Annenberg Foundation has received a 50+ year lease for a PRIVATE entity to receive a "gift of public funds" by building on top of ecological reserve land. Roofs, parking lots, pretty gardens, a dog & cat rescue facility - they all belong on land in the urban areas already built on - not on the precious 600+ acres of protected ecological reserve land. Annenberg's involvement also - IMPORTANTLY - empowers the Army Corps of Engineers and several state agencies in their plan to bulldoze the Ballona Wetlands - in a MUCH larger show of force and destruction than they did at Sepulveda Wildlife Area, Malibu Lagoon and Harbor Park. This will be the nature destruction project of the century in LA if it is allowed to proceed.
