Out of curiosity, are the RAT rules documented abstractly somewhere
for you to go on or will you have to reverse engineer the current
tool?
It will require reverse engineering. However, my recommendation (I know
the RAT code reasonably well) is to re-implment it. At present RAT has
an architecture that makes it quite extensible, but is overly complex
for what it does, which is essentially a pattern match.
