And that concludes *my* test, thank you very much :) I've had my present car for 2.5yrs, and have *yet* to find out which gizmo pops the hood (bonnet) open never having had any reason to learn... On the old one (Toyota) I knew (it had occasional problems, which needed to be checked), but tried to avoid it; I could *open* it OK, and even prop it up so it didn't decapitate anyone peering into the murk, but *closing* it back was another matter... <g> On this one (WV Passat), the thing is equipped with a 'puter -- it's supposed to inform me when things get haywire; I figure it needs to earn its keep.

And, if it tells me something is "off", and I do drive to the side of the road and wait for help... yes, I know I'm supposed to put my hood up but, since I can't, I'll get the lid of the *trunk* (boot) up instead -- I know how to do *that* (I use the car for grocery shopping twice a week). I just need to get me a silvery wig with, maybe, a few blonde hairs in it; can't play "a damsel in distress" any longer, but, "an old lady stranded"... why not? <g>

Who was it that said; "nothing that's human is strange to me"? Descartes? Well, I've done my best to follow that philosophy since the time I was 13 or so. But it *does not* apply to "all things mechanical"; all machines and I live in a permanent state of *tentative* truce...
