Just a book recommendation (original in german, of course, but might have been translated): Maria Stuart by Stefan Zweig (perhaps known through "Schachnovelle", chess novel?") It's a biographie with special regard on psychology of Mary and Elizabeth and their difficult realtionship. Well worth reading!
