I'm 5'3", medium build, 165 pounds, and a cyclist (which makes a tremendous difference; I was *so* unhappy when high boots were in fashion -- it was the only fad I ever wanted to follow, and all boot-calves were sized for couch potatoes) so it's safe to say that my 17-18 inches (depending on pose) is a maximum. Can you get the bride's mother or the maid of honor to measure her under some pretext?
