We're on a roll now!! But seriously, if we're gonna get all sentimental over our cinema idols from days gone by, let's pause and offer a special thanks for the grandest of them all, Katherine Hepburn. I was so sad to read that she had died.

She's always been one of my favourites also... But I've liked *many*... :)

Katherine Hepburn and Jeanne Moreau -- if that's how it's spelled -- topped the list, but there've been others; almost the entire (female) cast of the "Tea With Mussolini" would qualify, even though I don't *recall* their names (I might *recognise* them). And, although I've always prefered the "strong woman and good actress", I liked some of the "sex kittens" also -- Brigitte Bardot and "the other Hepburn" (Audrey) among them. "Viva Maria", which coupled BB and JM has always been one of my fav films... :)

On the "male front", it's always been the exact opposite, when it came to film-stars; I prefer the "toy-boys" to "real men" <g> Gerard Phillipe and Alain Delon had my pre-teen knickers in a twist, and I wouldn't have said "no" to Bardot's second? third? husband (whose name I can't remember any more and wouldn't even recognise). In the current crop, it's the same; can't remember the name (again <g>) but, the star of "About a Boy"? I don't care how bad his morals are; he's still my top choice for "cute" :) The only "mature male" I liked was Kirk Douglas; when the "final exam commitee" in my highschool plastered a photo of Cary Grant on my desk (everyone got something different to ponder while trying to solve the philosophical/literary and the matemathical puzzles <g>), all it earned was a snort, not a yearn.

I never paid much attention to Redford (it was early days of his career; add a few years before a film would hit the approval list for Poland)... Seing him (with Severn by my side, in Warsaw) in "Three Days of the Condor" was a bit of a shock, but I felt I had the better (by at least 6", as I learnt later) bargain.. :) Where it was *really uncanny* was seeing Redford in "something and the Sundance Kid" -- I kept looking from the screen to the husband and back again...

I've heard that Redford is a nice guy; I still think I got the better deal, though wouldn't mind the moolah that comes with stardom (but not with professorship at college <g>)
