Neat stuff there! The one about the Wrigley gum caught my attention for some reason, and I actually looked it up to check on it. The gum wasn't exactly the first item to have a bar code on it, but the first item scanned! There was no reason it was chosen first... the gum just happened to be the first thing taken from the cart by the shopper whose groceries were the first ones scanned. And... they said the pack of gum is on display at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History!! I wonder who the shopper was...
