Ah yes - but we also have Shepherds Pie, and Cottage Pie ...... But presumably so named not because of the shepherd or cottage in them, but the fact that the former is made with lamb or, more probably, originally with mutton, and the latter because (and I'm clutching at straws now) the beef and potatoes were eaten in the cottage.
