You don't have to move as far as from Britain to australia to find language differences. I grew up in the North East of Scotland where there are two languages; Doric, which is English based and incomprehensible to outsiders (and sometimes to natives) and "standard English". but when I moved to Wales I discovered that some of the "standard English" expressions I hadn't regarded as peculiarly Scottish were unknown to my Welsh colleagues and friends. Unfortunately, my memory being what it is, I can't remember what they were :-)
