i don't exactly know but it has something to with oak .. they like the particular taste wine gets after staying in oak barels .. even when it's not supposed to . i think wine makers even have the right now to put oak shavings to get the taste faster .... which is anathema to specialists . all wine don't need that oak flavour ..
Actually what we call american tastes are Robert Parker tastes .... you know that well known wine critic .. dominique who's not a specialist . i like beer better than wine .... shame on me !! though some white wines could make me change my mind .....
