Last night on one of our TV networks there was a "Test the Nation" quiz on
the 20th century. Caught about ten minutes of it while waiting for a
programme to start on anothr channel. "Celebrities" were being asked what
was their most memorable event of the 20th century. While others were saying
things like "the fall of the Berlin wall", one actress said "Marylin Monroe
when she sang 'Happy Birthday' to KFC." Amazingly she wasn't phased when her
faux pas was pointed out.
This morning a political impressionist/satirist was taking the p..... out of
just about every politician.prominent person in the world. For George Bush
his impression was "They want me to sign the 'Kyoto Agreement', but if they
can't spell the capital of Japan, why should I help them out?" For the Queen
it was about the bills Tony intends to put through parliament "Identity
cards?- I won't need one of those, I'll just show a stamp."
