Honey There is a record of some archeologists in Egypt who found a large urn filled with 2000 year old honey, identified by tasting (probably a long time before the health and safety current climate), the only thing wrong with it was that is had little black bits in it. On further investigation they were found to be bits of hair off the head of the baby which was preserved in the honey!
We still have to put a best-before date on the honey we sell - the British Beekeepers' Association recommends 18 months to 2 years purely on the basis that most people will have eaten it by then anyway.
