Dear Friends,
I have been asked by a friend to ask my resources (aka lace-chat) if
anyone
knows of a supplier for a tool which is used to kill eels in Poland,
Germany
etc.
Apparently this thing consists of two prongs to hold the eel down and
a 3rd
prong which is operated from the long handle and shoots through its
head
even a proper name for this tool would be a help so I could search on
Google.
Never heard of it, so don't know the name, even in Polish. But,
perhaps, "eel farming" or some such term would elicit results? Because
in Poland, most of the eels are no longer caught in the wild, but bred
for the market in ponds (I think they need salt water, though, since
all of the eel-farming seems to be concentrated in the north of Poland,
near the Baltic).
