A group of primary school children were being taught about morals.
For homework they were to ask their parents to tell them a story
containing a moral lesson.
They can then tell the story to the class.
Mary's story:
"My parents are chicken farmers, they have a hatchery.
One day they had a basket of eggs on the backseat of the car.
They drove over a stone in the road, and the eggs broke".
The moral of the story: "be very careful with fragile items".
Alice's story:
"My parents too have a chicken farm, but they breed chicks.
One day they had at least 20 eggs, so they expected to get 20 chicks.
They looked very well after the eggs, yet only 15 hatched".
The moral of the story: "Don't count your chickens until they have hatched".
Finally it is Katy's turn:
"My father told me about his sister Annie.
She lives in America, and is in the forces, in fact she is a pilot with
the air force and fought in Iraq.
One day her aircraft was hit and she had to jump out. The only things
she had with her were
a bottle of whisky, a machine gun and a pocket knife.
While dangling on her parachute, she emptied the bottle of whisky to get
rid of the bottle.
On the ground, she was surrounded by at least 70 Iraqis.
She took her gun and shot about fifty of them, then she ran out of bullets.
With her pocket knife she managed to kill another fifteen until the
knife broke.
The killed the remaining five with her bare hands."
The teacher looks at Katy and after a moment asks:
"And did you father tell you what the moral of this story was?"
Kay answers:
"Yes, most certainly: Stay away from Auntie Annie when she has been on
the booze".
