To the best of my knowledge, redwood tree wood is fire resistant, and possibly a bit bug resistant. The wood is usually used in large pieces as in decking and building siding. I think the wood is too soft for the fine turning needed to make bobbins....or at least the wrong growth formation. I don't see tiny items made of redwood in the stores.
