Wow, David....most fun since Victor Borge! There are 60-some YouTube
videos of theirs. I watched 3 or 4 and each one is better than the
last! I would love to see them live sometime....just fabulous!
As for middle eastern scales, it brings to mind the 'modes' studied
when I was at the conservatory. Think C to C as the tonality western
ears are used to hearing.....then D to D, E to E, on thru B to B, all
naturals (i.e. no sharps or flats) which sound very different or
'foreign' to our ears, because the half-tones fall in different places.
They each have names, long since forgotten as to which is which, but
some were Lydian mode, Phrygian mode, Mixolydian mode, Aeolian mode,
etc. Interesting stuff...to me, anyway...(-:
