As soon as I returned home I contacted Batsford as my advance copy of the Book was due. Kathleen Waller had already received hers, and as she had not seen the final proofs (she was looking after her sister Margaret Hamer who sadly died not long after) all was new to her and she was really pleased with the result.
On the whole I am very pleased, but afterwards there are always things you feel could have been done better, or differently - but at the time I did the best that I could. Of course one or two printing errors have come through, but that is not my fault!! I have checked the diagram methods and they are all OK. It is always a strange feeling when a book is finished ( this is no 4 ). You think of all the ring-binder folders full of the actual stitch-samplers, the print-outs of the first, second and final draughts, the folders full of diagrams that did, or did not work, the two or three hundred transparencies necessary to get a final hundred good ones, half a drawer full of the real Romanian Lace let alone Kathleen's contribution of the braids and worked examples of the patterns. Then you think, how on earth is this all compressed into one normal-looking book? The book is due to go out to the suppliers (England) mid June, I do not know of abroad. Anyone one who gets a copy, let me know if it works - I do hope so.
