The Met museum has a feature which allows you to set up your own gallery. I have placed oil paintings that I think would be of interest to lacemakers in my gallery. They feature people wearing lace that I think would be identifiable from the painting at the museum, although, unfortunately probably not from the images on the web-site which are low resolution. Other works feature things such as the interior of a milliner's shop with lace hanging, or the virgin working on a sewing pillow which looks just like pillows used for needle lace. The first painting is "The Lacemaker" by Nicholas Maes. I think it would be an interesting parlor game for people who visit the Met to try to identify the lace in the oil paintings. To see the paintings that I think would be of interest: Go to www.metmuseum.org Click "here" to enter the site Click on "The Collection" on the lower right On top, click on My Met Gallery use the name: Lace password: Lover
