It may well be from the island of Malta. There are many lacemakers on Malta who do not make Maltese lace. A couple of years ago, there was a "Lacemaker's Tour of Malta", and we dropped in on a workshop--on Bucks! That lace group also had a wonderful lace day, with an exhibit of its members' work. Beautiful torchon, Bucks, Beds, Russian, etc. Azzopardi on Gozo emphasizes the traditional patterns. Perhaps this is part of why she always calls it *Gozo* lace, rather than *Maltese*. Robin P.
