I notice this book is written by Elsie Luxton and Yusai Fukuyama - Yusai (a
man) also wrote the book
100 New Bobbin Lace Patterns published by Batsford, and in the preface, gives
thanks to his lace
teacher, Mrs Elsie Luxton MBE. The back cover says he is the author of several
lacemaking books
publishyed by Batsford - does anyone know what the others are?

I have in front of me at the moment a wonderful Japanese book on bobbin lace,
the only english words
on the cover being "Bobbin Lace" and there are very few english words inside,
and definitely not the
author's name. It is ISBN4-579-10822-1. It belongs to a Japanese born friend
of mine now living in
Australia, and she has promised to try to buy a copy for me the next time she
goes to Japan. It has
lace examples and prickings from all over the world, including a wonderful
Italian Cantu rabbit, and
a hanky edge from Almagro, Spain that I would just love to try. As well as
prickings, there are
extremely clear coloured working diagrams, and no English is required to
understand the book.

I wonder what other book treasures are out there in Japanese? My friend says
finding anything to do
with lace (she tats and does bobbin lace) in Japan is extremely difficult.

Noelene in lovely wet, wet, Cooma. We even topped the rainfall for the state
one day this week!
