A friend who shares my interests in lace and dolls sent me a delightful
bobbin with the base shaped and painted like a Russian 'nesting' doll
(matryoshka?), as well as a thimble and a cross-stitch card to make, both
with lacemaker designs - and the kit for the angel/choirboy shown on the
Lace Guild's advent calendar. My sister sent a ball of Goldfingering in a
sparkly snow-white that I haven't seen before... so now I have lots to do
on these wet, wet, wet holidays! (Summer?! Bah, humbug!)

And my husband gave me a new radio, which picks up the national classical
programme that has recently become available locally... something to listen
to, while I make lace! I gave him a set of miniature chisels, as the
bobbins he has turned so far have been made with ordinary chisels, and he
has realised that the work could be easier with appropriate tools...

Happy New Year to all, and special thoughts to those still waiting for news
of loved ones in South East Asia...
