Caught a bit of the 'Antiques Road Show' last night where a lady had a *very* early embroidered on silk small American flag. The silk was disintegratng in places. The expert told her to take it to a conservator and have it de-acidified, mounted on acid-free board and then mounted under glass to preserve it for as long as possible.
