I have just seen the most magnificent piece of needlework ever! It's
called 'The quilt of belonging'. It measures 36m. (120 ft.) x 3.5m.
(10ft. high) and is composed of 263 blocks. Each of the main aboriginal
groups and representatives of all the world nationalities in Canada have
made blocks. There's embroidery, beading, quilting, applique, and every
other technique known to woman. And wait for it - there's lace on the
blocks representing Brazil, Paraguay, Belgium, and Malta. (I may have
missed some.) You can read all about it, and see a picture of each
block, at:

Canadians, check the tour dates to see when it will be exhibited near
you. And if your community is not on the tour, put pressure on someone
to have it on display. It really shouldn't be missed. I don't know
where it will go on permanent display, but my vote would be the
Parliament Buildings in Ottawa.
