On the subject of mystery threads: I notice several of the Retournac
patterns are described on the website (www.ville-retournac.fr/musee) as
using 24/2 linen thread. I've encountered 24/2, and it seems it would
be
rather large for the described size of the designs. Can anyone
enlighten me
regarding this thread--where it is available, and with what does it
compare?
I inadvertently deleted a crucial "not"! I've _not_ encountered 24/2
linen.
The only 24/2 line that I've seen is Ets Vrau Fil de Lin, which is
French.
It measured 23 wraps/cm which compares to Bockens 40/2 or Bouc 50/2.
Probably the size on the Fil de lin is the metric size (Nm) whereas
Bockens and Bouc have English Linen sizes (NeL).
Just goes to prove that a size number alone isn't enough to describe a
thread!
