Greetings Gentle Spiders,

A big thank you to all who replied. You have given me food for thought about
my intro to bobbin lace.

I was not attempting to put a value on my work using yesterday's standards,
but rather to give a newcomer to BL some idea of the how expensive lace was in
the 1700s. By using a scrap of lace, scales and the price of gold today, I
hoped to make some of the history of bobbin lace more tangible and fascinating
for a newcomer, and to add credence to the laws that were passed concerning
laces.

For me BL is not just working the lace, but also its differences, the
techniques and its history. Maybe that's why my favourite book still is the
Christian 4th book by Bentsen, Johansen and Moller.

Regards and my thanks,
