Something not lacey at but definately worth doing is the London Eye - and it's good in the autumn, as central London has such a lot of trees that in summer you get to see lots of green but not into the gardens of No 10 Downing St or Buckingham Palace, which when the leaves have fallen you can.

Also if the weather is good, and your feet need a rest then the open top tour buses are good - they usually have very good and knowledgeable commentaries.
