What a pleasant surprise while I was getting ready for work on Friday morning. I was in another room getting ready when I heard the words bobbin lace from one of our local broadcasters. I went running into the living room to see what was going on. To my surprise there on the screen was Evelyn Gant being interviewed. This weekend the Myrtle Beach Convention Center hosted the Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals. Evelyn and her husband John were in town for Evelyn to demonstrate bobbin lace and tatting during the show and they were interviewing her to show some of the things which could be seen at the show. I already had plans to visit the show - but when I saw an old friend on TV I was walking several feet off the ground all day Friday at the prospect of seeing some one I knew and talking to someone about lace. Especially since I havent been able to find any local lacemakers -- I have been given leads by fellow Arachnes but they didnt pan out. We spent about 45 minutes together and enjoyed our time together. I also let Evelyn know if someone showed a real interest it would be alright to have them contact me. The person doing the interview usually posts his interviews on the stations website but it takes several days. I will keep checking to see if it gets posted and let everyone have the necessary link.
