Jo and others, I have read this conversation with interest. I have used
excel for a number of years for different lists but have learned lots of new
things this week. I was never really taught just shown how by a friend,
found a few things on my own, but never took the time to explore all the
options. How bad is that!! I knew something about the formulars but my
lists would sometimes throw strange tricks. You have all explained them to
me very well, so thank you one and all. Thank you all for being excellent
teachers, long distance to a never very clever student <grin>

To clear some misunderstanding: it wasn't my intention to ask for help, I
justed wanted to warn others. I do know how to solve the disappearing
leading zero from isbn's and other date/number scrambling. I just still
get surprised now and then, because I forget to take countermeasures to
prepevent it. I can imagine others don't know at all about it and don't
understand what happens or completely overlook the problem until it is too
late.
