Hello all
After about 8 years of lurking on this list (yes -
really!), I am finally responding to Tamara's plea for
more of us to come out of the woodwork. Not that any
lacemaking I'm doing at the moment is likely to
compete either in ambition or in general interest with
what I've seen lately in response to this thread.
We (DH and I) live on a boat so space is limited and
my days of having 6 or 7 pillows on the go are over.
My main pillow is currently packed away complete with
the sample of Flanders I was attempting before we left
the UK. But we do have room for my travel pillow (a
much-travelled pillow - but that's another story). I
managed to make 5 lace cards for Christmas 2006 as
against my usual 1 or 2 (isn't retirement wonderful! -
maybe I'll join the card exchange next year). Now I am
making a fairly simple torchon edging - a Debbie
Moller design with 23 pairs and Finca 50 (Thanks,
Jenny d'A.). Don't know what I'll use it for - I'm
just making it because I'd go potty if I didn't have
at least some lace on the go. For the first few months
here I had to make do with just crochet and knitting.
Besides the embroidery of course - 2 cross-stitch, one
canvas-work and 2 surface embroidery projects all at
various stages, but I'm afraid that might be off-topic
so I won't say any more.
Well I'd better sign off - don't want to set up in
competition with some of the regular listers known for
their long posts. Just wanted to introduce myself at
last...
Hazel (in Oude Wetering, Holland)
