That pannomia lace is neat.
When you say crocheted braids, do you mean the lines around each area,
like Romanian point lace?  That's very interesting that it's found in
Hungary, also.

No - the crochet bit is the braids that form the container holding the flowers and the curly bits to either side of it. All the needlelace fillings are outlined with a cordonnet thread. I've added a detail photo to the page with the larger image, but it's a big file (376Kb) so you really need broadband.

The piece of Pannomia lace shown in the Earnshaw book has proportionally more crochet and less of the spider webs than the Lace Guild piece.
