Schlamm is in English as Sue mentioned mould
and what Jo mentioned for mushroom reminds me also on something like this. Bevv found perhaps the "nearest" explanation: sham imitatio, conterfeit, pretence
But than I am wondering why U. V. used an English expression.
I don't know but it si interesting to look at "words from every side"
