Just my two penn`th about hankies. I buy hankies three in a box all different colours, usually pale shades. Two have embroidered flowers and one plain. Its surprising how pretty the hanky looks with a lace edging and an embroidered flower. They are a good size and usually square. A white edging looks good on a pale coloured edging. Usually picked up for a £1 or so.
