So the options for that seem to be try and find as fine a linen thread as
possible, enlarge the pattern and see if I like what I get. The hang-up
there is that I'm unsure of how to enlarge the pattern. Can I just put it
on my scanner and enlarge it that way? How do I determine how much I need
to enlarge the pattern?

Yes, you can use your scanner to enlarge the pattern. Scanners have made
life easier.
When you have found the linen thread you want to use, email this list with
the details of the thread you want to use and the cotton thread the pattern
originally called for, and someone will calculate by how much you need to
enlarge the pattern - or tell you how to do the calculations, if that is
your preference.
I can say this confidently, because we have so many memebrs of arachne who
are willing to share their skills and knowledge with others. Thank you to
everyone who shares their talents with us all
