As soon as I watched the videos, I went to my temporary internet files
folders and copied the files to my hard drive. When I closed Internet
Explorer, the videos disappear from the temporary internet files folder, but
they are still saved on my hard drive.
I have just restarted my computer and disconnected from the internet. The
videos still played from my hard drive, even though I wasn't connected to
the net. So, Sue, no you don't need to be connected to the internet to view
them, provided you have actually saved them to your computer and haven't
just put them in 'favourites', which is merely a quick way of finding a web
page you like when you're on line.
I used to save videos to Realplayer by passing the mouse pointer over it and
clicking on "Download this Video", but since I upgraded to the latest
version of Realplayer, I no longer get this option, even though I've set it
to enable downloads. If I right click on the video image and request a
download now, I get a window which says "This clip is not downloadable from
this site." I googled to find out if there was a simple method, and copying
to another folder from the temporary internet folder after watching was the
simple answer I found.
