Michele, you can find Alex's book on the weaving archive page: http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books.html#S
Scroll down to "Stillwell." On a related note, I bought Alex's book a few years ago in Israel at a used bookstore and I love it. When I was involved in the Thing-a-Day project in February, 2008, I used the time to try all sorts of needlework techniques that I never seemed to get around to. One of those was Teneriffe lace. I made a small motif from Alex's book: http://www.flickr.com/photos/spindexr/2293819552/ I used a hunk of styrofoam as the "pad" with long pins pushed through a photocopy of the pin points.
