Exactly how we would produce nine jabots out of 50 states, I can't
imagine! What did you mean?
I suppose you would have to use sophisticated joining techniques :-)

Alternatively, you could extend the project to include the judges of the
United States Courts of Appeals.

I seem to have missed Pene's original post, but having just visited Honiton
where it was customary for people to make individual sprays and motifs,
leaving it up to another to mesh them all together, you could have a motif
made to symbolize each state and then join them together into the nine
jabots. Unfortunately, 50 is not evenly divisible by 9, so that decisions
would
have to be made. One approach would be to include territories and
protectorates like Puerto Rico, Guam, the American Virgin Islands and American
Samoa.
Another approach would be to group smaller states like Rhode Island and
Delaware, giving some jabots more states, but not more territory or
population. A third approach would be to omit states that no one volunteers
for.

By the way, the Speaker of the House of Parliament's jabot, made by Pat
Perryman, is back in Honiton at the Allhallows Museum because the current
Speaker eschews pomp.
