Hunting scenes are not all that unusual in Milanese lace. The MMA has
several, some gory, some romantic.

Hello All! A few months ago, a link was posted to Milanese lace with a
falconer. This was very cool stuff!! Over the weekend & quite by accident,
I was rummaging around in worldcat.org & stumbled across "Milanese Bobbin
Lace with Hunting Scenes", an article in Burlington Magazine for
Connoisseurs dated March 1918 by P. G. Trendell. The citation noted that it
was
available online via jstor.org with a password. Unfortunately, the Erie
library is not a participant but Edinboro University is. When I contacted
their
reference dept. this morning, they actually had the mag & very generously
scanned 3 pages that they sent via e-mail. Lots of animals, fanciful flora
& archers!! Does someone on the list know more about this?? If anyone
wants the scans, please contact me off list & I'll attempt to forward them.
