The last time the IOLI convention was at Bathesda someone did a lecture on the history of Ipswich lace. I found it very interesting and I always wanted to go to Ipswich after taking this class. Still want to. Hope someday to get there.. I heard that some black lace owned by Martha still survived. Black lace usually disintegrates over time due to the black dyes were acidic or something like that.

Of course you are right that our group has demos at the Smithsonian here in Washington, DC of Ipswich lace. There is supposed to be a piece on display at nearby Mt. Vernon as well, which was owned by Martha Washington, but I haven't gotten around to going to see it.
