Well I  didn't  think that my innocent posting would result in such an 
avalanche of names.
Alas, although I did make some bobbins for my youngest daughter from 3mm 
dowling using a Stanley knive, I wouldn't call myself a bobbin maker.   
Neither was Alan, his forte was to write on the social history of 
lacemakers, both in England and Ireland in the late C19th.  My 
contribution has to do a little designing and write a few teaching booklets.

May, I thank Jenny for compiling the list and I promise, one day to scan 
in some of the bobbins I have as examples. So, it's back to the pillow 
and get ready for our OIDFA get-together day tomorrow.  Guess what's on 
the agenda, as well as reports on Tokyo - CAEN 2012.
