I think its exactly that - there are many biblical/religious names on old
bobbins.
Names such as Solomon, Zachariah, Moses, Joshua, Job, Jesse, Isaac, Ephraim,
Elijah, Eli and so on.

marginally more common in the 19thC? I would think it would more likely
