Hello Lora and everyone I use scissors to cut the yardage ;) It doesn't unravel vigorously, and you would be confining the cut end within a stitched seam of some kind, yes?
If the trim is hanging below the fabric, I would turn the end of the lace on itself, one or two pattern repeats, hand stitch the folded bit in place.
