Hello All! Two additional online resources. 1)
http://www.naergilien.info/research/london1/VandA/Textiles_Laces/index.htm
This is the direct lace link but there are lots of photos posted to this site
other than lace, stuff that might interest SCA members. Items that interested
me: some 17thC Flemish lace, a black lace fan & a parasol cover with lilies
that reminds me of St. Matthews church (Lalique lilies!) on Jersey. Some
embroidered eye candy too--crewel (?) parrots & other critters. There is a
large photo section of chronological portraits of Elizabeth, showing lace &
blackwork.
2) http://www.allsortsofeverything.co.uk/downloads/SilkComparisons.pdf Handy
little chart, spun vs. filament, plys, price, where to buy etc. Hope these
aren't a rerun. Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
