Hello all, As a Spanish lacer, I can say that the pillow of the postcard is like our vertical pillows. The bobbins are the traditional Catalonian boxwood bobbins used all over Spain. And even the pattern is a traditional model made in CamariƱas and Almagro, a mixture of torchon and guipur.
The picture looks quite recent, as the pillow stand is modern. Traditionally women didn't use stands but the back of a chair or the wall. Investigating a bit further in the picture... she could be a Spanish lacer. An old woman dresses like this woman and sometimes is combed like her. Also the pattern of the ground (to be seen just under the chair) is quite Spanish. But I don't know if you find this pattern in the sidewalks of France too. Best regards... Antje, in Spain. - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected]. For help, write to [email protected].
