Seen on BBC Breakfast programme a buttery yellow cape made from the silk of
spiders from Madagascar. Information from the programme:-

The spiders are captured in the morning, attached to a harness and the silk
thread is gathered for about 20 minutes after which the unharmed spider is
released back into the wild. Then the thread is spun. (No information about
any process between gathering the thread and spinning it.)

The garment is a basic cape without any shaping, simply a back and split
front. But the close ups showed beautiful embroidery with the same thread.
the theme of the embroidery is spiders. The cape is on show at the Victoria
and Albert museum in London.
