Lovely Spiders spinning your lace, Clay puts on a Class Act with Lace at Sweet Briar. Sweet Briar is her alma mater, so she does have clout there. Do you suppose that's why we're treates so well?
Sweet Briar is an (as we called it in the Old Days) exclusive girls college in the beauty spot of Virginia. One is not housed in dorm rooms as is usual on college campus retreats. The Florence Elston Inn is attached to the Conference Center by a covered walkway and the rooms are lovely with low rates. Meals are a short walk away and the food costs little for an extremely well-provisioned cafeteria. Breakfast is Continental in the Inn. I especially like is that we do not have to pack up after class and tote stuff ones room, The classrooms are locked, but we can return at night to work on our project. Many of us do that and it is a relaxing time to visit and compare notes. Best vacation ever, I can tell you! By the way, if anyone is flying into Roanoke for Lace @ Sweet Briar, I live in Roanoke, will pick up at the airport and will drive you to Sweet Briar. If you come early, you can stay with me until Sunday when we'll drive to Lace. Check the airline fares and flights, and maybe it'll be cheaper and easier to come to Roanoke...
